How I Raised Myself From Failure To Success In Selling

After injuring his arm playing for the St. Louis Cardinals, Frank Bettger lost his baseball career and for two hard years tried his best to sell life insurance but he had no skills or talents outside of baseball so he struggled and struggled until he became one of the best salesmen in america.
How I Raised Myself From Failure To Success In Selling is Franks own personal experience of making a shift from “worthless employee” to “MVP” of his company.
How To Speak To Others
When he was 29, Frank enrolled in a speaking course taught by none other than author of the now famous How To Win Friends And Influence People, Dale Carnegie.
In this class Frank learned all there was to know about speaking to people, he went from a shy introvert to a charismatic social butterfly.
Bettger said that the way to not be shy speaking to individuals is to do a kind of exposure therapy by speaking to group of people at a time because once you get used to speaking to groups, individuals don’t seem so threatening.
Another benefit to speaking to large groups is that you base level of bravery gets raised and that enables you to have courage in facing challenges in life, increasing your chances at overall success.
Frank Discovers The Greatest Secret To Selling…

There was one thing that propelled Frank to become the most effective of all salesmen in his time, and that thing is so simple when it’s explained, it’s…
Enthusiasm!
If you don’t have enthusiasm for the product you’re selling how can you expect the customer to feel that way?
When he was still in baseball Bettger was actually cut from a team for being too nonchalant about the game so in order to get back at his former coach, he decided he would express a high level of enthusiasm for his new team. A local newpaper had given him the name “pep” and he became a top player who was also better paid.
Frank Bettger applied this wisdom to selling then everything started “clicking” for him and he brought himself up from failure to success.
Bettger makes a point of saying that you don’t need to be made excited by something to feel that way, he cites studies that show you can create the feeling of enthusiasm in your head first; then your excitement becomes an authentic feeling in your body and shines through your personality.
Try it out for yourself and remember that this has the power to change your life and your income.
Organization Breeds Success
Bettger had made a promise to himself to make at least 5 sales calls a day and as he did that he tracked his results by determining how much money he made each call and whether or not he had made a sale.
When you track your results, you know what you’re doing right and what you’re doing wrong so you are able to do more of the right things and get better results.
“Selling is the easiest job in the world if you work at it hard, and the hardest job in the world if you work at it easy.”
- Frank Bettger
Success is usually the result of very organized habits, not many people realize that if they broke down what they wanted to achieve into daily goals then they too can achieve success for themselves, they just need to find the right actions to do everyday.
With this knowledge you can achieve anything you want without much energy, Frank tells the story of a best selling author in his time, Mary Roberts Rinehart who wrote her books late at night because she had three children and a sick mother to take care of but she managed to write everyday and because her habit was so ingrained into her schedule it allowed her to attain success easily.
